For this project, I was given a brief from an RSA Competition asking me to create an intergenerational house that was also future proof. To accomplish this I added an extension onto the back of the site I was given and connected it to the main site through a corridor that doubled as a herb garden. In this extension, AKA Garden House I created a bathroom, bedroom and roof terrace as well as a space that could be adapted depending on the age and generation occupying it. The roof terrace allows each neighbour to have an additional garden space to make up for the space that was taken over by the Garden House as well as a space that allows them to interact with each other but at a bit of a distance. I thought this would be ideal for elderly neighbours wanting to keep each other company in situations like lockdown and younger children that want to play together.
